Valve Positioner

Valve Positioner

A Valve Positioner controls the position of a pneumatically actuated valve by comparing the required valve position with its actual position and adjusting the actuator air supply accordingly.

Rather than simply commanding a valve to fully open or close, a positioner allows the valve to move accurately to intermediate positions, making it particularly valuable in modulating applications where precise control of flow, pressure, level or other process variables is required.

The pictured unit is an electro-pneumatic rotary positioner fitted with a smart position transmitter/display and pressure gauge. This type of equipment is commonly paired with pneumatic rotary actuators on butterfly and ball valves.
